Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I consider repurposing my jewelry?
Repurposing allows you to breathe new life into sentimental pieces, update outdated styles, and create unique, personalized jewelry. It’s also an eco-friendly choice, as it reduces the need for new materials.
Can all types of jewelry be repurposed?
Most types of jewelry, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, can be repurposed. However, the feasibility depends on the materials and condition of the original piece.
How long does the repurposing process take?
The time frame can vary depending on the complexity of the design and the condition of the original jewelry. On average, the process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months.
Is it expensive to repurpose jewelry?
The cost can vary based on the design complexity, materials used, and the craftsmanship required. However, repurposing can often be more cost-effective than purchasing a new, custom-made piece.
Can I be involved in the design process?
Absolutely! I encourage my clients to be involved in the design process to ensure the final piece meets their vision and holds personal significance.
Will the original sentimental value of the jewelry be preserved?
Yes, the goal of repurposing is to maintain and even enhance the sentimental value of the original piece by creating something new that still holds the personal significance of the original.
What happens to any leftover materials from my original jewelry?
Leftover materials can be returned to you, used in future projects, or recycled, depending on your preference.
Do you offer gold credit for my existing gold jewelry?
Yes, we do offer gold credit for any gold that we are able to melt down and use toward your redesign. If your original settings contain gold, we can apply the value of that gold as a credit toward the cost of your new piece. During our evaluation, we will assess the amount and quality of the gold in your original jewelry. The value of the gold credit will be included in your proposal, helping to reduce the overall cost of your project.
Can damaged or broken jewelry be repurposed?
Yes, even damaged or broken pieces can often be repurposed. We will assess the condition and determine how best to incorporate the materials into a new design.
Can I repurpose multiple pieces of jewelry into one new design?
Yes, combining elements from multiple pieces to create one cohesive design is a popular option. This allows you to create something unique and meaningful.
What materials can be added to my repurposed jewelry?
New materials like additional gemstones, different metals, or other decorative elements can be added to enhance the design and create a fresh look.
Will I see a mock-up or sketch of the new design before it’s made?
Yes, we will provide you with a rendering of the design to help you visualize what the final piece will look like before the repurposing process begins.
